Luna - Goddess of the Moon and Stars

I'd been researching various mythology surrounding Moon/Luna Gods and Goddesses, and while there are so many to choose and illustrate, I decided to create one of my own. She'd started out as quite pale in skintone, but naturally progressed to a deeper shade, influenced by the choice of colour palette as well as wanting to create a good contrast between her and the Luna Moths that lay against her. In my mind this is a Goddess that watches over the night sky, her hair the midnight glittering with stars, and her robe decorated with a scallop pattern which can be interpreted as either mountains or the ocean waves.

Created on hot pressed watercolour paper using watercolours, coloured pencil, acrylics and metallic calligraphy ink.

The sketchbook rough alongside the final illustration.
