Arthur Shelby

Another portrait inspired from the Peaky Blinder series, this time the character Arthur Shelby who is played by Paul Anderson. Arthur is the eldest of the Shelby siblings, who leans more towards violence and action without due care or thought. He struggles a lot with his mental health and substance abuse that manifests in uncontrolled, almost blackout violence, but he seems to find clarity and happiness when he marries a very religious woman, working towards becoming sober, and enjoying a quieter, much less dangerous life away from his family. But it’s not long before he’s drawn back in to the family fold by his brothers. A great complex character that has really interesting developments throughout each season.

The portrait is painted with Winsor&Newton watercolours and gouache, on Bockingford hot pressed watercolour paper, and measures 30x42cm.
