Vintage Wedding Portrait

 

I was contacted by a client to copy a wedding photograph of their grandparents, to give as a gift to their father for his 70th birthday. The client decided to go with a simple replication through a sketch, and I think this was the best choice so the portrait doesn't lose that vintage feel.

The portrait had some challenges along the way; as with old photographs they can be slightly blurry or have deteriorated over time, so I took extra care and attention in making sure every detail was as close to the reference image as I possibly could.

Created on Strathmore toned grey paper using a soft lead mechanical pencil, and Faber Castell polychromos for white hi-lights.
